What a great about Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen or Chaouen is one of the loveliest cities in Morocco, located in northern Morocco. It is also known as “the blue city” simply because its walls, doors, stairways, and the whole buildings are colored in blue. In Chefchaouen, you can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains and the atmosphere of the brightly painted medina; an old city where you can buy different souvenirs and take memorable photos. Chafchaeuen is not a big city like others. However, it is required a lot of time to discover the best of everything has to offer.

In Chafchawn, There are many interesting places and activities to enjoy. The medina contains a wide range of chops with excellent hosts and attractive products, including artisanal clothes, spices and herbs, wicker products, traditional trinkets, Riffi blankets, Berber jewelry, different kinds of soaps, Colored paint, and etcetera. _ Note that vendors in Medina don’t push you to buy their stuff, and they give you the suitable prices, unlike in other destinations such as Marrakech, Fez, and Meknes.

Plaza Uta El Hammam & The waterfall d'Akchour

Plaza Uta El Hammam is a lovely square surrounded by many restaurants and coffee chops, located in the heart of the Medina. It is the main gateway to the so called the Grande Mosquée; a well designed mosque with thrilling architecture that worth a visit (don’t forget to bring your camera). Further, Kasbah Museum, a Heritage Museum, is adjacent to the main square of Medina and has a small attractive garden. The Museum displays a diverse collection of traditional crafts such as old fashioned carpets, wool and weaving, local costume, ceramics, etc (see pictures below).

The waterfall d'Akchour is another place of interest while visiting Chafchaoeun. It is about 25 kilometers from the blue city, where you can camp, enjoy swimming, and see natural rock bridge (Bridge of God). On the way to Akchour, you will encounter attractive landscapes and souvenirs to buy. Also, a plenty of coffee shops and small restaurants can be found along the way of Akchour. Note that the way to the cascades of Akchour is a little tricky, so it requires comfortable shoes to hike up.

Chafchaoeun accommodation

Needless to say, Chafchaoeun has a plenty of hotels that provide local and international foods, sweet drinks, air-conditioned rooms, and free Wi-Fi. Therefore, you should prepare yourself to visit Chafechaouen _ it will be an unforgettable experience.

As a first-time visitor, you have to take into consideration that Chafechaouen is more conservative than other cities, and it is almost hilly_ just to avoid any inconvenience
